Okay, here’s my sharing about the Rider-Waite Radiant Tarot deck based on my experience:
So, I got into this whole tarot reading thing a while back. Not in a super serious, mystical way, but more like a fun, self-reflection kind of deal. I decided to grab a deck and just mess around with it, see what it was all about. I went with the Rider-Waite Radiant deck. It’s pretty popular, and I figured it would be a good one to start with.
First off, I just spent some time looking at the cards. The artwork on this deck is really something else. It’s this recolored version of the original Rider-Waite deck, but the colors are way more vibrant. I mean, they really pop. Each card is like a little story in itself, with all these symbols and characters. I didn’t know what any of it meant at first, but it was cool just to look at them and let my imagination run wild.
Then I started reading the little booklet that came with the deck. It gives you a basic rundown of each card’s meaning. Major Arcana and Minor Arcana, the whole deal. Apparently, the Major Arcana cards are about the big life lessons, and the Minor Arcana cards are more about the day-to-day stuff. I’m not gonna lie, some of the meanings were a bit out there for me, but I tried to keep an open mind. The booklet also had some examples of spreads, those are like different ways you can lay out the cards to do a reading. I’m a simple man, I tried a three-card spread to start with it.
I started doing some simple readings for myself. I’d shuffle the deck, think about a question or situation in my life, and then draw some cards. I’d lay them out in a spread and then look up the meanings in the booklet. Sometimes the meanings would make sense, and it would be like, “Whoa, that’s kind of accurate.” Other times, it would be a little confusing. But I found that it was more about how I interpreted the cards than anything else.
- I think what I enjoyed most about it was how it made me think about things in a different way.
- Like, I’d draw a card, and it would bring up some feelings or thoughts that I hadn’t really considered before.
- It was like a little mini-therapy session, but way cheaper.
I started doing readings for friends and family too. That was fun. They’d ask me a question, and I’d do a reading for them. Sometimes they’d be like, “That’s spot on!” and other times they’d just laugh it off. But it was always a good conversation starter. It’s not about predicting the future or anything like that. It’s more about self-reflection and gaining some perspective. It is just a deck of cards, after all. But they’re pretty cool cards.
I’m still learning about tarot, and I’m sure there’s a lot more to it than I’ve discovered so far. But I’m enjoying the process. It’s a fun hobby, and it’s a way for me to connect with myself and others on a deeper level. The pictures are great and the golden color really fits my appetite. I am going to buy some other versions of tarot decks and try them out, the miniature size is also great for me to take out.
