Okay, so I recently got into this whole tarot card reading thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride! I decided to start with the classic Rider-Waite deck because, well, it’s the classic, right? I figured it would be the best way to really learn what’s going on with these cards.
First things first, I needed to get my hands on a deck. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money, seeing as I was just starting out, but I also wanted a deck that was decent quality, not some flimsy knock-off. I looked all over, even did some price comparisons on ebay like a hawk. I actually found a really nice one, brand new, and it didn’t even break the bank! It also came super fast.
Once I had the deck, I started diving into the meanings. Man, there are so many interpretations out there! It’s kind of overwhelming at first. I mean, each card has a whole story behind it, plus all these different symbols and colors that mean something. It’s a lot to take in.
So I thought, I need to make this easier on myself. I’m a visual learner, so I started looking for resources that had pictures of each card along with the meanings. That way, I could connect the image with the interpretation. I found some really helpful stuff online, just by searching “Rider-Waite tarot deck meanings with pictures”.
Here’s what I’ve been doing:
- Looking at the cards: I started by just looking at the cards, one by one. I’d pick a card, study the picture, and really try to get a feel for what it might represent.
- Reading the meanings: Then, I’d read a few different interpretations of that card. I found that reading multiple sources helped me get a more well-rounded understanding.
- Making notes: I started a little notebook where I wrote down my own thoughts and observations about each card. I’d jot down keywords, feelings, and any connections I made to my own life.
- Practice spreads: I also started doing some simple spreads, like a three-card spread, just to practice putting the cards together and seeing how they interact.
It’s been a really cool process, and I feel like I’m starting to get the hang of it. It’s definitely not something you learn overnight, but it’s been fun and actually pretty insightful. I am getting better at seeing how the cards relate to each other. I’m also getting better at understanding what the cards mean for me. I’m still learning, but I’m excited to see where this tarot journey takes me! I mean, I had some real AHA moments.
