Okay, so, I got into this whole tarot card thing a while back. I picked up this RWS tarot deck, you know, the Rider-Waite-Smith one. It’s pretty popular, I guess. I’ve been messing around with it, trying to learn the ropes.
First off, I grabbed a study guide. It wasn’t free, but it had explanations for every card, both upright and reversed. I read through the thing, trying to get a feel for the meanings of all 78 cards. There is a free guide, but I think it is not professional enough, so I paid for one.
Then I started doing some practice readings, mostly for myself. I’d shuffle the deck, think about a question, and then pull out a few cards. I used the guide to interpret them, and honestly, it was kind of hit or miss at first. There are 78 cards in the whole deck, and 14 of them have these stage-like lines. I’m still not sure what that’s about.
- I started with the “Modern Witch” RWS deck.
- Then I got a study guide with explanations for each card.
- I did practice readings and tried to connect the card meanings to my questions.
I found this other RWS deck, the “Radiant Wise Spirit Tarot,” I compared it with the traditional one, it’s the same thing, but the picture seems more vivid, so I got one, too. It’s similar to the one I had, but the colors are way more vibrant. I started using it for my readings, and I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I felt like I was getting better at understanding the cards.
I also watched some videos online, you know, people explaining how to use tarot for divination and spiritual stuff, and joined an online tarot learning community for beginners. I was a total newbie, but everyone was super helpful. I even tried doing readings for some of the folks there, just for practice. I still have a long way to go, but I’m definitely getting the hang of it. It’s a cool way to do some self-reflection and maybe get a little insight into things. I’m thinking of trying out some other decks, too, just to see what’s out there. This whole tarot thing, it’s been a pretty interesting ride so far.
