Well, now, lemme tell ya somethin’ about this here “starnomy” stuff. Is it hard? That’s what folks wanna know, ain’t it? It ain’t like plantin’ corn, that’s for sure.
Some young’uns, they go off to college and think they gonna learn all about the stars. Heard tell of one, wanted to make them movin’ pictures, cartoons they call ’em, but got stuck on this starnomy class. Failed it twice, poor thing! Guess them stars ain’t as easy as drawin’ pictures.
Now, I ain’t been to no fancy college, but I heard there’s books you can read. One fella said he read a book durin’ that lockdown time, when everyone was cooped up inside like chickens in a coop. Said it was free on that “Kindle” thingamajig. Said it wasn’t too bad, even if you skipped all them numbers and figgerin’. Makes ya wonder why they gotta put all that fancy stuff in there anyway.
- Starnomy, it’s pretty, like lookin’ up at the night sky. All them twinklin’ lights, makes ya feel small, like an ant in a big field.
- But it ain’t just pretty pictures. It’s got all this math and physics stuff mixed in. Sounds like a headache to me. Like tryin’ to understand why the rooster crows when the sun comes up. Some things just are, ya know?
So, if you’re thinkin’ about takin’ a starnomy class, be warned. It ain’t for the faint of heart. You gotta be good at numbers and all that science stuff. Otherwise, you might end up like that poor animation fella, failin’ and scratchin’ your head. Folks say it’s a “hard science,” whatever that means. Sounds serious, like doctorin’ or buildin’ bridges.
But then again, some say it ain’t so bad if you just wanna look at the stars. Like them folks who teach ya about the Big Dipper and all them constellations. Ten lessons, they say, and you’ll know your way around the night sky. That don’t sound too hard, does it? Just pointin’ and lookin’, like findin’ the cows in the pasture.
There’s even college classes that go with books, teachin’ ya all about it, chapter by chapter. Thirty chapters, that’s a lot of readin’. Guess it depends on how deep you wanna go. You wanna just enjoy the pretty lights, or you wanna understand how they got there and what they’re doin’?
Some folks even get fancy degrees in starnomy, masters they call ’em. Spend years studyin’ it. Gotta be smart for that, gotta know your physics and math. They go on to be starnomers, studyin’ them stars all day long. Sounds like a lot of work to me.
Even them smart folks say some things are hard to explain. Like how they figure out what them stars are made of, just by lookin’ at the light. They break it up into colors, like a rainbow, but way more complicated. Sounds like magic to me.
So, is it hard? Well, it depends. You wanna just dip your toes in, or you wanna jump in the whole hog? You wanna just look at the pretty stars, or you wanna understand all the complicated stuff behind ’em? It’s up to you. But don’t say I didn’t warn ya. It can get mighty complicated mighty fast.
But hey, even if it’s hard, don’t give up too easy. If you’re really interested, you can learn a little bit at a time. Start with the easy stuff, then work your way up. Just like learnin’ to bake a pie. Start with a simple recipe, then try somethin’ fancier. And who knows, maybe one day you’ll be a starnomer yourself, tellin’ everyone all about them stars.
