Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with tarot cards for a while now, and I finally decided to dive into this whole “decan” thing. It’s basically breaking down each sign of the zodiac into three parts, giving you even more detail in readings. I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”
First, I grabbed my notebook and started jotting down what I already knew about the zodiac signs. You know, the basics – Aries is fiery, Taurus is stubborn, Gemini can’t make up their mind, all that jazz. Then, I tried to split each sign into three equal chunks, roughly 10 days each. Easy enough, right?
Next, I had to figure out which tarot card goes with each decan. This is where it got a bit tricky. I rummaged through my tarot books and, of course, hit up the internet. There are, like, a million different systems out there. Some people use the Golden Dawn method, others go by the Chaldean order of planets… it’s a whole thing. I spent hours just reading and comparing.
- Aries – first decan, ruled by Mars. I figured, okay, that’s probably a strong, action-oriented card.
- Taurus – first decan, ruled by Venus. Love, beauty, money… you get the idea.
- And so on, you know, trying to match up the vibe of each planet and sign with a card.
After a while, I started to see patterns. Like, the first decan of each sign often seemed more intense, more “pure” to the sign’s energy. The second decan was a bit more mixed, and the third decan felt like the sign was starting to transition into the next one.
I decided to pick one system – the Golden Dawn one, just because it seemed the most popular – and stick with it for now. Then I grabbed my deck and started pulling cards for each decan, just to see what came up. I wrote down my first impressions, what I felt about the card, and how it related to the sign and planet.
Honestly, it was pretty cool. It was like adding a whole new layer of meaning to the cards. For example, I pulled the 6 of Swords for the second decan of Gemini, which is ruled by Venus. This decan should all be about the harmony but 6 of Swords is more about a necessary journey. Made me think, hmmm, is love and harmony really a smooth way?
I’m still learning, still experimenting. But I’ve already done a few readings using decans, and it definitely adds something extra. It’s like zooming in on a picture – you start to see all these little details you missed before.
So yeah, that’s my little adventure with tarot decans so far. If you’re into tarot, I definitely recommend giving it a try. It’s a bit of work, but it’s worth it. Just be prepared to fall down a rabbit hole of astrological information!
