Okay, so I recently got into this whole “interviewing your tarot deck” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been pretty interesting! I figured I’d share my experience, step-by-step, in case anyone else is curious about trying it.

Getting Started
First, I found a quiet spot where I wouldn’t be disturbed. I lit a candle – just a regular one, nothing fancy – to help me focus. Then I grabbed my tarot deck, the one I’ve been using the most lately. I held it in my hands for a few minutes, just kind of… connecting with it, I guess? Sounds a bit woo-woo, but it felt right.
The Shuffle and Draw
Next, I shuffled the deck really well. I mean really well. I wasn’t thinking about anything specific, just letting my hands do their thing. Some people have fancy shuffling methods, but I just did what felt natural. I then layed the cards on a spread.
- Card 1:What is your most important characteristic?
- Card 2:What are your strengths?
- Card 3:What are your limits?
- Card 4:What do you bring to the table?
- Card 5:How can I best learn and collaborate with you?
- Card 6:What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?
My Deck Interview
I flipped over the first card it was about what is the deck most important characteristic,It was The Six of Pentacles. I figured it told me, the deck is generous and fair.
I flipped over the Second card it was about what are the deck strenghts,It was The two of Pentacles, the deck told me it’s good for balance, adaptability and time management.

The third card I turned around was about the limits of the deck. I got the Five of Cups, It makes sense, it’s about loss and regret. The deck can only guide me, I need to live my life, I should consider that.
The Fourth card, I picked for what the deck bring to the table, I got The Sun, such a positive vibe! It means my deck is for good things, success, I felt a big boost there.
The fifth card was how I could best learn from the deck. I drew The Star. I felt it was about hope and faith,I thinked it meant that I should trust my intuition when interapreting the cards with this deck.
Finally, for the potential outcome of working with this deck, I got Ten of Cups. Wow. I think it’s pretty awesome, it means emotional fulfillment and being in harmony with the deck, I felt like a good sign!

Wrapping Up
After I looked at all the cards, I spent some time just… thinking about them. I didn’t rush it. I wrote down my initial thoughts in my journal – just some quick notes about what each card meant to me in this context. It wasn’t super organized, just my raw impressions.
Overall, it was a really cool experience. It felt like I got to know my deck on a whole new level. I’m definitely going to keep doing this, maybe once a month or so, just to check in and see how our “relationship” is evolving. If you’re into tarot at all, I definitely recommend giving it a try!
