Well, let me tell ya, this Eugenia Last’s horoscopes, they’re somethin’ else. Folks keep talkin’ about ’em, so I figured I’d take a gander myself. Don’t know nothin’ about these planets and stars and all that fancy stuff, but I reckon it’s kinda like readin’ the tea leaves, just a bit more… modern, I guess.
Now, this Eugenia, she says things like “Make reductions this year. Less consumerism, temptation.” Sounds like good sense to me, though I ain’t got much to reduce, to be honest. That’s the truth. Ain’t nobody gonna hand you nothin’ on a silver platter. You gotta get out there and make things happen for yourself.
This horoscope stuff, it’s a bit like weather forecastin’. Sometimes they get it right, sometimes they don’t. But it gives folks somethin’ to think about, somethin’ to hope for, I guess. GEMINI (May 21-June 20): Someone will offer hype and hope, but more is needed. Listen to the sales pitch, but follow the dots closely. That’s good advice, no matter what you’re doin’. Don’t just believe everything you hear. Use your own head and figure things out for yourself. That’s what I’ve always done, and it’s served me pretty well.
She talks about how people born on July 2nd are good at figuring themselves out. Well, my niece was born on that day. She always was a thoughtful girl. And it seems like this Gemini sign is all about doing too many things at once. Reminds me of that time my chickens got out and I spent all day chasin’ ’em around the yard. Talk about duality! I was tryin’ to catch chickens and fix the fence at the same time. Eugenia Last would probably say I needed to use my skills resourcefully that day, and she’d be right.

Anyways, I just hope folks find a little somethin’ useful in these horoscopes, somethin’ that helps them get through the day. And if not, well, it ain’t gonna hurt nothin’ to read ’em. Just like readin’ the funny papers, sometimes it’s just nice to have somethin’ to pass the time.
