This old lady, I heard people talking about, what’s it called, finding the best psychology schools in NC. This psychology, it sounds fancy, what is it? My grandson says it’s about what people are thinking. Sounds like a load of nonsense to me. But, well, if you wanna learn it, you gotta go to a good school, right?
I heard there are a lot of schools in NC. How many? A whole bunch! Like, eighty-nine! Can you believe it? That many schools teachin’ this psychology stuff. They got all kinds of those things, what’s it called, certificates, and those other ones, associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, and even doctor’s degrees. All for learnin’ about the head.
That Duke Place
That Duke place, everyone’s always talking about it. Seems like a big deal. It’s in a place called Durham, a big city, they say. Lots of young folks walking around with their noses in books. They say Duke is a private school, not one of those government ones. And it’s a big one too, not some tiny little schoolhouse.
They got three of those psychology things at Duke, these “programs” they call them. My grandson says that means different ways to study this head stuff. And in the year two thousand and twenty-two, twenty-two of those young folks finished studying psychology there. Must be a popular thing.
That Other One, Chapel Hill
There’s also that UNC Chapel Hill. Another big one. People say it’s one of the best for learnin’ about psychology. Sounds important, I guess. If you wanna learn about people’s brains, that might be the place to go. I don’t know, sounds like a lot of work to me, just to figure out why people act the way they do.
Folks say if you wanna be one of those fancy psychologists, there are a bunch of different kinds. One is that forensic one, I heard about that one on the TV, it’s for those crime shows, I reckon. Sounds a bit scary to me. Then there’s the clinical one, and the school one. What they do? No idea, but it sounds complicated.

All This School Stuff
It’s important to pick a good school, you know. You want to be the best psychology schools in NC or some other place. I remember when my boy was choosing a school. It was a lot of trouble. They are all expensive. All of them! You need to think about the money, child.
But these psychology schools, they say it’s a good thing to study. Lots of jobs, they say. I don’t know about that. Seems like a lot of fuss to me, just to figure out what’s going on in someone’s head. But, if that’s what you wanna do, you do you, I guess.
I don’t understand much about this psychology, to be honest. I remember back in my day, you just took people for how they were. Didn’t need no fancy school to tell you why someone was acting up. Maybe they were just having a bad day. Or maybe they were just mean. Simple as that.
What’s Psychology Anyway?
They say it’s about the mind. This psychology thing. But what’s the mind, really? Is it the brain? Is it the heart? I always thought the heart was where all the feelings were. That’s where you feel love, and sadness, and all that. But they say it’s all in the head now. Seems strange to me.
This whole psychology thing, I think it is something new. They didn’t have this when I was a young girl. We just lived our lives, worked hard, and didn’t think too much about why people did what they did. We were too busy just trying to get by. You worked the land, you raised your kids, and that was that.
Choosing a Good School
But these days, young folks, they wanna study everything. They wanna know all the answers. That’s fine, I guess. But choosing a school, that’s a big decision. You gotta think about where it is, how much it costs, and if they even teach what you wanna learn. It’s a lot to consider. That best psychology schools in NC may not be the best for you, even if others say it is.
I heard that those two, Duke and UNC Chapel Hill, they’re always at the top of the list for psychology. They must be doing something right, I suppose. But there are probably other good schools too. You just gotta find the one that’s right for you. And don’t be afraid to ask questions. Lots of questions. That’s how you learn.
And don’t let anyone tell you what you should study. If you wanna study psychology, you go right ahead. It’s your life. You do what makes you happy. Even if it sounds like a bunch of nonsense to an old lady like me.
I still think common sense is better than all that book learning. But what do I know? I’m just an old lady who doesn’t know much about this fancy psychology stuff. But I do know that if you’re gonna do something, you might as well do it right. And that means finding a good school, even if it is one of those big, fancy ones like Duke or UNC Chapel Hill. The important thing is you are happy and doing something with your life. No matter what the others say.
