Okay, so, today I wanna talk about this thing called “orb astrology” that I’ve been messing around with. It’s kinda like regular astrology, but it looks at how far apart planets are in a birth chart and what that might mean. Sounds a bit complicated, right? But trust me, it’s pretty interesting once you get into it.
First thing I did was find my own birth chart. I just used one of those free online calculators, put in my birth time and place, and bam, there it was. Then I started looking at the degrees between the planets. That’s where the “orb” part comes in. Basically, an orb is just the difference in degrees between two planets.
For example, if your Sun is at 10 degrees Aries and your Moon is at 15 degrees Aries, the orb between them is 5 degrees. Simple enough, huh? But here’s where it gets a little tricky. In orb astrology, different aspects (like conjunctions, squares, oppositions) have different “allowed” orbs.
- Like, for a conjunction (when planets are close together), you usually look for a smaller orb, maybe around 8-10 degrees.
- For a square (when planets are 90 degrees apart), you might allow a slightly bigger orb.
So I went through my chart, calculated all these orbs between different planets, and wrote them down. It felt a bit like doing math homework, not gonna lie. But once I had all the numbers, I started to see some patterns.
I noticed that I had a pretty tight conjunction between my Mercury and Venus, with an orb of only 3 degrees. In regular astrology, that usually means something about how you communicate and relate to others. And with such a small orb, it suggested that these themes are probably really strong in my life. And yeah, I do think I’m pretty good with words and people, so that kinda made sense.
Then I saw I had a wider orb between my Mars and Saturn, like 11 degrees. It was still within the range for a square aspect, but just barely. This made me think that maybe the tension between my drive and my discipline isn’t as intense as it could be. It’s there, but it’s not like, constantly in my face.
Digging Deeper
After playing with my own chart, I decided to try it out on some friends’ charts too. It was kinda fun, comparing and contrasting our orbs and seeing what we could figure out. It’s definitely not a perfect science or anything, but it was interesting to see how the orbs seemed to reflect some of our personality traits and relationship dynamics.
Honestly, this whole orb astrology thing is still pretty new to me. I’m no expert, just a guy who likes to explore these kinds of things and share what I find. But it’s definitely given me a new way to look at birth charts and think about how the planets might be influencing us.
If you’re into astrology, I’d say give orb astrology a try. It might just open up a whole new level of understanding for you. And even if you’re not, it’s still a pretty cool way to learn a bit more about yourself and the people around you. Just remember to keep it light and fun, and don’t take it too seriously. After all, it’s just stars and stuff, right?
