Okay, so, I got into this whole tarot card thing, and I picked up the Marseille deck. It’s got 78 cards, which was kind of a lot at first, but I figured it out. I started by just looking at them, you know, getting a feel for the pictures and stuff. There are two main parts: 22 Major Arcana cards and 56 Minor ones.
I tried to get my head around the Major Arcana first. These cards are like the big themes, with names like “WHEEL OF FORTUNE,” I read that this one’s about destiny, success, and luck, but if it’s reversed, it means something about increase and abundance. I noticed the drawings can be a little different between decks, but they all kind of mean the same. For example, I saw that in the Jodorowsky Marseilles deck, it is an angel, combining the creative wings of the spirit and the receptive feminitity of the soul. Its garment is half blue and half red. I guess the meaning is it’s not yet the royal purple, but it has the potential to become it.
Then I moved on to the Minor Arcana. I learned that the Marseille deck uses the Italian suits. I spent some time sorting the cards, looking up what each suit and number might mean. It felt like putting together a puzzle, and it was actually kind of relaxing.
After getting a basic idea of the cards, I tried doing a few simple readings for myself. I’d shuffle the deck, ask a question, and pull a card. I’d look up the meaning in a book I got and see how it applied to my question. Some of the readings were pretty spot on, which was cool. And sometimes they feel totally wrong. So it is a fun thing to do.
I also found out that these cards were used for games a long time ago, back in the 17th and 18th centuries, especially in France. That makes them feel even more special, like they have a story behind them. Some brands sell it on Amazon, like Cbd Tarot De Marseille, at a price of around $39.99. I did not buy it because I already had one. And I also found that there are some books like “The Marseille Tarot Revealed” that can teach you the meaning of the cards.
So, that’s where I’m at with my Marseille tarot card adventure. It’s been fun learning about the cards and trying to understand what they mean. I’m still a beginner, but I’m enjoying the process. They have a rich history and vibrant imagery.
