Well, let me tell you, I heard folks talkin’ ’bout these best colleges in Illinois for psychology. Sounds like a fancy word for studyin’ how people’s brains work, you know? Like why that ol’ Jimmy down the street acts so crazy sometimes. I don’t know much about these fancy schools, but I heard some things.
First off, there’s this place called the University of Illinois at Chicago. That’s a mouthful, ain’t it? They say it’s right in that big ol’ city, Chicago. Lots of people go there, I reckon. They got all them tall buildings and whatnot. Seems like a good place to learn about people, ’cause there’s so many of ’em around there. I heard it is good for this psychology stuff.

Then there’s another one, way out west in California, they say. Stanford University. Now that sounds real important, don’t it? But it’s in California, not Illinois, so I don’t know why people are talkin’ about it when we talk about Illinois. But, people say it is real hard to get into. Only 4 out of 100 people get in, can you imagine? I guess you gotta be real smart to go there, that’s for sure.

Now, back to Illinois. There’s another one called University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. UIUC, they call it. Sounds like a secret code or somethin’. They say this one’s real good for studyin’ psychology too. Been one of the best for a long time, I hear. So if you wanna learn why folks do what they do, this might be the place.

And what about this other one? Northwestern University. That’s in a place called Evanston. I don’t know where that is, but it sounds fancy. People say it’s one of the best in the whole country! Number 23, I heard. That’s pretty good, right? They got all kinds of learnin’ there, not just this psychology stuff. They talk about something called Business, Teaching or something about nurses. I don’t know much ’bout that, but I guess if you’re into that, it’s a good place to go. They even say you can study there without being there, maybe on those computers I see young people on all the time.

I heard some folks say you can learn about this psychology stuff to help people. Like with their minds, you know? If they’re feelin’ down or somethin’. Or maybe even in businesses, whatever that means. They call it “mental health.” I guess that’s important. It is good to help people. If you can do that at these schools, then that’s a good thing, I reckon.
They got all these different things you can learn about in psychology. Like, why people act the way they do, or somethin’ called “research.” Sounds like lookin’ things up. And somethin’ about health, too. I guess that makes sense, your brain’s gotta be healthy, right? And even something about kids! That’s interesting.
I heard that you gotta pay to go to these places. And it ain’t cheap, neither. But some places will help you pay if you ain’t got the money. That’s good, I guess. Everybody should get a chance to learn, even if they’re poor as a church mouse. They say you can get somethin’ called a degree. That means you finished your learnin’ and you’re good at it, I reckon. Like a certificate sayin’ you know your stuff.
Some of these places are online, so you don’t even have to go there in person. You can learn right from your own home. That’s kinda neat, I guess. Saves you the trouble of travelin’ all the way to the city. But I still like seein’ people face to face. Makes more sense to me than starin’ at a screen all day. Maybe I am just old fashioned.
They say these schools are part of somethin’ called a system. Like a big family of schools, I guess. And they’re all approved by some important folks who make sure they’re teachin’ the right things. That’s good to know. You don’t want to go to some school that ain’t teachin’ you nothin’, right? You want to learn from the best to be the best.
