So, the other day I stumbled upon this book called “Six-Gun Tarot” by R.S. Belcher, and let me tell you, it sounded right up my alley. Weird west? Count me in! I’d heard good things, so I figured, why not give it a shot?
First thing I did was grab myself a copy. Went to the bookstore, found it on the shelf, and bam, it was in my hands. I do love the feeling of a new book. I started reading it on the bus ride home. I really like the cover, it has a distinct old-timey feel.
I got home, made myself some coffee, and settled in for a good read. For the first few chapters, I just tried to get a feel for the world and the characters. Golgotha, Nevada. It’s a weird little town for sure. I took some notes as I went along, just jotting down things that stood out to me. The characters, like the sheriff Jon Highfather and the deputy Mutt, they seemed pretty interesting from the get-go.
Next, I got into the real meat of the story. This town, Golgotha, it’s got secrets. Lots of them. And this 15-year-old kid, Jim, he’s caught up in all of it. It was fun trying to piece together the clues along with the characters. I underlined some passages that I thought were important and wrote down some of my own theories in the margins.
- Sheriff Jon Highfather: Seems like a good guy, but he’s got a heavy past.
- Mutt: The deputy. Loyal, but maybe a bit naive.
- Jim: The kid. He’s in way over his head, but he’s got guts.
Then, I tried to dig a little deeper. I went online and looked up some reviews and discussions about the book, just to see what other people were saying. I was trying to avoid any big spoilers, of course. It was cool to see other people’s perspectives, and it made me think about the book in new ways. There was a whole online community for this book. I was surprised. I even made a few posts myself to share some of my thoughts.
Finally, after a few days of reading and thinking and discussing, I finished the book. And wow, what a ride. It wasn’t what I expected, but in a good way. I spent some time just reflecting on the ending, what it all meant. I updated my online post with a full review of my own, talking about my favorite parts and characters. I did not expect the ending. I thought for sure Mutt would come out alive!
And that’s pretty much it! I read a book, I thought about it, I talked about it. It was a good experience. If you’re looking for a weird west story with some interesting characters and a whole lot of mystery, I definitely recommend “Six-Gun Tarot.” Just be prepared for a wild ride!
Has anyone else read the book? I would love to chat about it.
